The historical fort is ascribed to one of the greatest warrior and ruler Sher Shah Suri, who took over the fort in 1536. Sonva Mandap, Sun Dial and a huge well are some of the attractions inside the fort. The fort offers a stranded view of River "Ganga" and a U.P. Tourism bungalow is situated in Chunar to stay. |

A major shrine of Muslim Saint Meeran Shah is located within the fort premises. According to the legends 7 tanks were found at a time in the fort area but right now three large and one small tank exist. The relics and ruins of medieval structures is still present and rest of the fort area is replete with rocks and dreary landscape. Visit to the fort is good for adventure tourism. It is 6 kms walk through the dense forest of Kaimoor from Dhandarol Dam and it takes two to three hours to climb the rocks to approach the Gateway of the fort. |

| OJHLA BRIDGE | |||||||||

The structure is a fine instance of sculpture notably the bridge was constructed by one day income in cotton trade. There are two fort like minarets and ramparts on the either side of the bridge and below the road the hanging underground rooms have been built to provide shelter for the commuters. |

| GHANTA GHAR | |||||||||
Constructed in the year of 1891, the entire structure is made of finely carved stones. The image of Fairies, Lion Eagle and Dragon have been engraved all around the walls with floral shapes vine and foliage. The clock has 1000 kgs bell made of alloy metal and hangs down from the upper most story. The toll of the bell could be heard at any part of the old township during night. |

| GHATS OF MIRZAPUR | |||||||||
Like that of Banaras the river bank of Mirzapur too is lined with gigantic structures of stone. As we sail down or upstream series of ghats and the flight of steps stretched in acres and acres naturally attract our attention. In the days of yore these ghats were a community center as well as a place of religious congregation on most of these ghat temples made with fine stone sculpture have been built.
